The reason being, for the second consecutive year, the Char Dham Yatra has not been smooth due to corona infection.
In September last year, the yatra started in a very simple form. Till the closing of the doors in November, only about 1.32 thousand devotees reached Kedarnath Dham for darshan.

Due to this the yatra in the year 2013 got affected in the initial stages itself. Although the state government had started the pilgrimage to Kedarnath from the year 2014 itself, it took some time to instill the confidence of the devotees in the safe journey.
With the help of the Centre, a lot of work has now been done in Kedarnath. In view of this, the state government is continuously encouraging the devotees to visit Kedarnath Dham.
Corona badly affected the journey.
In the year 2019, the effect of these efforts of the government was also visible and a record number of about 10 lakh devotees reached Kedarnath Dham. I
n the year 2020, the government was expecting more pilgrims to reach Chardham, but the lockdown implemented due to Corona badly affected the journey.
In April 2020, the state government had opened the pilgrimage to Kedarnath Dham for the local residents and after September, pilgrims from other states were also allowed to visit Kedarnath.
Despite this, the number of people reaching Kedarnath Dham remained only about 1.32 lakh, which is about 13 percent compared to the previous year.

In view of this, it was believed that this time the Chardham Yatra will start on time and a large number of devotees will also reach Kedarnath Dham.
Meanwhile, the second wave of corona infection started wreaking havoc. As a result, the state government had to postpone the Chardham Yatra. This journey has not started yet.
