Only after declaring the BJP candidate, the SP opened its cards and made Raja Diwakar the district panchayat president candidate.

There was a ruckus behind not being able to declare the candidate for the post of Kanpur District Panchayat President. UP government’s strong cabinet minister Satish Mahana and Bithoor MLA Abhijit Singh Sanga were face to face with this.

The total number of Zilla Panchayat members here is 32. SP has got maximum 12 seats while BJP has got 8 seats. BSP has 6 and 6 independent district panchayat members.
