Senior Congress leader Manu Abhishek Singhvi on Monday lashed out at the Kerala government for granting three-day exemption to covid restrictions on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Manu Abhishek Singhvi, who is also the party’s national spokesperson, said the relaxation of the restrictions was a disgraceful move. Singhvi tweeted that if it is wrong to make a pilgrimage to Kanwar in Uttar Pradesh, then so is Eid.

If it is wrong to travel to Kanwar in Uttar Pradesh, so is Eid. He also clarified that Kerala should not forget that covid is in bed. The Congress leader came out with harsh language criticism as the state was given three days of lockdown concessions to celebrate the big festival. Manu Abhishek Singhvi’s response was via Twitter.
Abhishek Singhvi said the government’s move to grant relations was unfortunate. The lockdown concessions were granted in the state following strong protests from traders. The Supreme Court had intervened to stop the pilgrimage to Kavadi in Uttar Pradesh due to the high number of covid cases.
Kerala has the highest number of covid cases reported in the country. Lockdown exemptions have been announced in the state for three days in observance of Bakrid. Discounts are available on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. From today onwards, more concessions will be given in areas including A, B, and C categories.
There will be no concessions in category D with a triple lockdown. Shops selling groceries, fruits, vegetables, fish, meat, and bakery items in A, B, and C zones, which are exempt from the restrictions, may be open. Clothing stores, shoe stores, electronics shops, and fancy shops,s and gold shops have also been allowed to open. These shops will be open till 8 pm.

Shops can be open from 7 am to 8 pm following the covid protocol. At the same time, only shops selling essentials in the D category areas are allowed to operate. Local bodies with test positivity above 15 percent are in category D.
