Dramatic scenes in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly.  Unexpected scenes took place when the Assembly convened for the first budget session of the Mamata Banerjee government, which came to power again.  Opposition BJP chanted slogans while Governor Jagadeep Dhankar was delivering his policy address.

Dramatic scenes in the West Bengal Assembly.  Governor Jagdeep Dhanghar stopped his policy speech and walked out of the assembly following a commotion by BJP members.

BJP members rioted and held up placards protesting the violence in the state following the elections.  The BJP alleged that the state government was not conducting a proper investigation into the matter and was protecting the culprits.  The MLAs went down to the center of the assembly and chanted slogans.

The slogan was mainly against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.  The governor then adjourned for five minutes.  Though the speech resumed, protests from the BJP intensified.  With this, the BJP members started rioting again.  The governor then stopped speaking and walked out of the assembly.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also accompanied him.  This time BJP MLAs continued to protest but they too walked out after the governor.

The governor then stopped speaking and walked out of the assembly.  He was accompanied by Speaker Biman Banerjee.  The Assembly will reconvene at 3 p.m.
