The order that stern action would be taken if nurses spoke in their mother tongue was withdrawn due to strong opposition.

Nurses from Kerala are working at the G.B pant (Gipmer) Government Hospital in Delhi.  In that hospital, only English and Hindi are the official languages so you have to use any one of them.

Complaint against nurses for speaking mother tongue.

Meanwhile, a hospital patient lodged a complaint with a senior health official.  In it, GIPMER noted that while English and Hindi are the official languages of the hospital, some nurses speak Malayalam.

In this context, a circular was issued in this regard.  The circular said that the nurses working in the hospital should not speak in Malayalam but only in English and Hindi and strict action would be taken if they spoke their mother tongue.

Strong opposition for this action against the GB pant hospital.

Nurses strongly condemned the circular written by the hospital management and questioned what was wrong with the nurses speaking in their mother tongue.

The hospital also employs not only nurses from Kerala but also from other states.  Nurses from other states also strongly condemned the hospital management’s circular.
