The loan guarantee scheme is for both new and old projects for setting up of medical or health infrastructure by private hospitals in cities other than eight metros.

The National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company Limited (NCGTC) on Friday issued guidelines regarding the implementation of the loan guarantee scheme of Rs 50,000 crore. This scheme is to improve health related infrastructure facilities in small towns. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced this scheme last month under the stimulus package of Rs 6.29 lakh crore.

According to the announcement of the Finance Minister, the loan will be available at a concessional rate under the loan guarantee scheme for the covid affected areas. The interest on this will not exceed 7.95 percent. As per the guidelines, the scheme will be applicable to the approved loans for the period from May 7, 2021 to March 31, 2022 or till the issue of guarantee of Rs 50,000 crore loan.

The credit guarantee scheme is for both new and old projects for setting up of medical or health infrastructure by private hospitals in cities other than eight metros. As per the guidelines, credit guarantee of 50 per cent for all old projects in healthcare sector and 75 per cent for new projects will be available at centers other than eight municipal areas.

The metros excluded from the plan are Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. The loan guarantee for both old and new projects for the Aspirational District Program of the government will be 75 percent. No guarantee fee will be charged from the lending institution by NCGTC for the credit facilities provided under the scheme.
