JNU student Sharjeel Imam has got bail today. Delhi’s Saket district court has granted bail to Sharjeel in the case of alleged violence at Jamia University in 2019. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dinesh Kumar today granted bail to Sharjeel on a surety of Rs 25,000 and the like amount.

The magistrate said that keeping in mind the nature of the offence, the public vote is given to him. He said that the fact has also been taken into account that he was not arrested during the investigation. That is why the application of Sharjeel’s bail is accepted (Delhi Court Grant Bail).

In December 2019, there was an incident of violence in Jamia University over the students’ protest against CAA. He has got bail in one case, but for the time being he will have to stay in jail. Sharjeel Imam is also an accused in 3 more cases related to Delhi violence. In October 2019, the court refused to grant bail to Sharjeel. He is accused of allegedly making provocative speeches and inciting violence.

FIR was registered in Jamia Nagar police station regarding violence in 2019

He has been granted bail after furnishing a bail bond of Rs 25,000 along with a surety of like amount. An FIR was registered at Jamia Nagar Police Station regarding the violence that took place in Jamia on December 13-14, 2019. 

Imam is currently in judicial custody in other cases. His lawyer Mustafa represented him during the hearing. According to the FIR lodged with the police, Imam has been charged under various sections of the IPC for offenses of violence and unlawful assembly.

Also, in view of the absence of the Investigating Officer (IO) during the hearing, the court imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on the investigating officer and asked him to provide the copy of the main charge sheet till the next hearing to the accused who have so far been accused of it. has not been received. On December 1, the High Court had issued notice to the prosecution on a bail application filed by him in another case.
