Kanhaiya will become the Khevaiya of Congress in Bihar?
Kanhaiya Kumar had to face a crushing defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had entered the electoral fray on a CPI ticket. Veteran BJP leader Giriraj Singh defeated him by a huge margin. Political pundits believe that if he joins the Congress, it will be the new beginning of his political innings. It is also being said that Congress wants to strengthen its weakening land in Bihar with the help of Kanhaiya Kumar.
Kanhaiya Kumar belongs to Begusarai of Bihar. He also tried his luck in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but he lost to Giriraj Singh of BJP. Begusarai has the largest number of Bhumihar voters and Kanhaiya Kumar is also a Bhumihar. In such a situation, he failed to prove himself. Despite this, the party believes that there is a need for a new face in Bihar. As a student leader, he has experience in organization formation. Bihar Congress leader Amarinder Singh says that the party will benefit from Kanhaiya’s arrival. Because, Kanhaiya is fighting the same issues and battles which Congress has been raising.
Will Congress benefit from Jignesh’s arrival?
On the other hand, Jignesh Mevani, who belongs to the Dalit community, is an independent MLA from Gujarat. It is being said that Gujarat Pradesh Congress Working President Hardik Patel has spoken to the high command sitting in Delhi regarding Jignesh. Mevani had made strong remarks after the resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani recently. At the same time, he had said that this resignation has definitely come for the purpose of preparing the electoral arithmetic keeping in mind the 2022 assembly elections. Let us tell you that this time Congress is preparing to enter the fray with full force in Gujarat. Last time he had to face defeat against BJP by a very small margin.
The trio of Hardik Patel, Alpesh Thakor and Jignesh Mevani played an important role in the 2017 elections. Hardik Patel has joined Congress. At the same time, Alpesh Thakor went to the BJP. But Jignesh Mevani never made any compromise and he has been fighting with BJP continuously. There are seven per cent Dalits in Gujarat and 13 seats are reserved for them. In the last elections, the BJP had won most of the reserved seats. At that time Jignesh Mevani was confined to his seat and Congress did not field a candidate against him. But with Mevani coming to Congress, the picture may change.
