Karnataka Chief Minister Yediyurappa has said that the appointment of a new Chief Minister will be known this evening.

After the overthrow of the Congress-Secular Janata Dal coalition government in Karnataka, a new BJP government led by Yediyurappa (age 78) came to power.  Tomorrow (July 26) marks the second anniversary of his inauguration as Prime Minister.  Yediyurappa, who has ruled smoothly for two years, was recently slammed by fellow MLAs.  Riot voices arose demanding the removal of Eduardo from office.

Tourism Minister CP Yogeshwar, BJP MLAs Pasanagowda and Arvind Bellat have been publicly criticizing Yediyurappa in the media and on public platforms.

They got the signatures from the MLAs and sent them upstairs asking them to appoint someone else as the chief minister as he is 78 years old.  Thus, BJP supremo Arun Singh appeased dissidents in Bangalore last month.

Meanwhile, Yediyurappa, who returned to Delhi earlier this month, met senior BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi.  Yediyurappa is said to be stepping down as chief minister.

Speaking at a press conference last Thursday, Yediyurappa said he was two years into his tenure as chief minister on July 26, after which he said he was ready to do whatever JP Natta told him to do.

Speaking to reporters today, Yediyurappa was asked if the next Karnataka chief minister could be a Dalit, to which he replied, “Important information will come from the BJP leadership this evening, after which I will let you know whether I will be in office or not.”  “Whenever I get information, I am ready to do whatever the party leadership tells me to do,” he said.

It is rumored that Yediyurappa will step down after completing two years as chief minister tomorrow.
