The central government has hiked the minimum support price of paddy by Rs 72 per quintal for the 2021-22 crop year. With the increased price, it will now be Rs 1,940 per quintal.
In addition to rice, the government has also increased the rates of other kharif crops. The Meteorological Department has forecast normal rainfall for June-September this year.
The Union Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was held on Wednesday.

After the Cabinet meeting, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar told mediapersons that the decision taken on the minimum support prices of crops was revealed.
He said that the minimum support prices for all crops have been increased and this will continue in the future. He said that the minimum support has eliminated the fears of the farmers over the prices.

Similarly, Sajja said the quintal was Rs 2,150 per quintal last year and now it is Rs 2,250 per quintal. The Union Minister said that farmers were happy with the results as support prices for crops were on the rise.
