Left Front, Congress and Peerzada Abbas Siddiqui contested the assembly elections together. For the first time in the history of the Left-Congress assembly elections, the account was not even opened. But, once again the Pirzada and Congress love of the Left Front is visible. On Friday, a day after the announcement of Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections, the Left Front released its list of candidates. Releasing the list of candidates for the KMC elections at Pramod Dasgupta Bhawan in the metropolis, it was said on behalf of the Left Front that they would not field their candidates in 15-16 wards.

Left leaders say that despite not having an alliance, support will be given to Pirzada Abbas Siddiqui’s party Indian Secular Front (ISF) and Congress in the said wards. The Left Front also wants to carry forward the fight against the Trinamool and the BJP together in the upcoming civic polls. Left parties have demanded that the elections be conducted in a fair manner. Left Front leaders said that we have to make arrangements so that people can exercise their democratic rights.

Where the Left Front can fight on its own will be decided first. We will see where we can fight better. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections are to be held on 19 December. The State Election Commission has issued a notification announcing this on Thursday. After this, the election code of conduct has come into force in 144 wards of Kolkata Municipal Corporation area. With this the process of enrollment has also started. The last date for submission of nominations is December 1.
