The results of the by-election for the post of 9th Ward Councilor have been announced in Gurudampalayam Panchayat under the Periyanayakanpalayam Union of Coimbatore District. With a total of 1,551 votes in the ward, only 913 votes were cast in the election.

According to the results announced, Arul Raj of the DMK has won with 387 votes. Jayaraj, who contested independently without party affiliation, came in second with 240 votes. AIADMK’s Vaithiyalingam came third with 196 votes.

Karthik, a BJP candidate for the post of ward councilor, is in deep trouble. With 5 voters in Karthi’s family, he got only one vote in the election. In support of him, Ravikumar from Temutika got 2 votes. Opposition parties have been criticizing the BJP for not being able to surpass the BJP in Tamil Nadu.
