Tamil Nadu Livestock and Fisheries Minister Anita Radhakrishnan today (Friday) inspected the Pamban Kundukal deep sea fishing port near Rameswaram . He continued to hear complaints from fishermen.

Later, Minister Anita Radhakrishnan told reporters , “The Government of Tamil Nadu will take all necessary steps to transform the Pamban Kundukal Port into the premier fishing port of Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs. 200 crore.

If the Tamil Nadu fishermen are affected by the new fisheries bill to be brought by the Central Government, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Stalin will definitely take action to protect the rights of Tamil Nadu fishermen. The stalled Indo-Sri Lankan fishermen talks will be held soon after the corona infection subsides , ”he said.

Following this, Minister Anita Radhakrishnan attended a fishermen’s meeting held at the Fisheries Token Office premises in Rameswaram and inquired about the problems of key boat fishermen.

The fishermen demanded that “a fair price should be available for exported fish, that the damage caused by the increase in diesel prices should be alleviated, and that a new fishing landing site should be set up at Rameswaram.

 Minister Radhakrishnan has said that the diesel subsidy for fishermen in Tamil Nadu is increasing from 300 to 400 liters.  The Minister of Livestock and Fisheries, who is in Ramanathapuram, has stated that Chief Minister MK Stalin will announce a number of projects during the budget session of the Assembly and that the subsidized diesel capacity for key boats will be increased from 1,800 liters.
