Yoga is slowly taking a central place in everyone’s life for its proven role in physical, mental and spiritual happiness. It is also being accepted globally. It is a symbol of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity to the whole world and makes it necessary to publicize it on a big platform and promote its importance.

The Ministry of Culture, Government of India is planning to celebrate International Day of Yoga by organizing a campaign titled “Yoga is an Indian Heritage” as a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” campaign.

This program will be organized at 75 cultural heritage sites with the active participation of all the institutions/bodies of the Ministry.

Keeping in view the current pandemic situation, the number of participants for yoga at each venue has been limited to 20. Many eminent people will participate in the events organized at these places

The program will be telecast live on all digital platforms/pages of the Ministry of Culture.

The program will consist of 45 minutes of yoga followed by a 30-minute short cultural program, which will be performed by youth awardees from Sangeet Natak Akademi or Regional Cultural Centres.

The program will be telecast live on all digital platforms/pages of the Ministry of Culture. For maximum coverage selected 30 sites including media partners of Ministry of Culture such as Radio Fever 104, Doordarshan, Curefit and FICCI have been included.

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and Tourism, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel will perform Yoga at Red Fort, Delhi along with senior officials of the Ministry from 7 am to 7.45 am on June 21, 2021. It will also be broadcast live on all digital platforms of the ministry.
