Taking a big decision, the Odisha government has decided to recruit transgenders in the Police Services Department.
This is being considered as one of the historic decisions. The state government has allowed the transgender community to apply for the posts of constable and sub-inspector in the state police department.
Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay confirmed this.

Odisha Police has issued a notification inviting applications for the recruitment of Sub-Inspector and Constable Posts and Trans people to be eligible to apply for these vacancies.
Police Recruitment Board has invited online applications from men, women and transgender community for the appointment of 477 Sub-Inspector and 244 Constable (Communication). The application portal will be open from 22 June to 15 July.

Meera Parida, president of All Odisha Transgender Welfare Association, informed about this decision. “We thank the Chief Minister and the Home Department for taking this decision towards gender equality and development of the transgender community,” he said.

Requirements for this post.
Candidate applying for the post of Sub Inspector must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and candidates applying for the post of constable must have passed the plus two (12th) examination.
The recruitment process will consist of three types of tests including Computer Based Multiple Choice Questions, Physical Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test in online mode.
