The two-day international conference on ‘Innovative Research in Life Science for Sustainable Development’ was inaugurated on Thursday in the Department of PG Botany, Lalit Narayan Mithila University. Presiding over the inaugural function, Vice Chancellor Prof. Surendra Pratap Singh said that the theme of this conference is multifaceted. Getting to the top is an achievement, but staying at it is very difficult. The Vice Chancellor said that he had worked on 17 points of sustainable development identified by the United Nation and his report is being worked on by the Uttar Pradesh government. Sustainable development takes us to the pinnacle of success. To Vice Chancellor Prof. Dolly Sinha thanked the department for holding the conference on this subject and expressed hope that such an event would give a new direction to the students here.

Referring to his work done on the seventeen points of sustainable development identified by the United Nations, he said that the Uttar Pradesh government is working on his report.
The chief guest was the Vice Chancellor of Sandeep University, Prof. Sameer Kumar Verma while talking about the geographical condition of Mithila said that every year it has to face the wrath of floods. Research can be done on many aspects of the management of fertile land and aquatic plants and animals here. Dean of Science Prof. Talking about the innovation, VS Jha said that many such researches have been done in Darbhanga which can be cited in today’s conference. Padmashree Dr. Madan Mohan Mishra told about the ways to get rid of toxic arsenic found in the water here at very low cost. He also discussed the film ‘Padman’. Registrar Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed hoped that research students will get a lot of benefit from it.
Head of Department Prof. Abhay Kumar said in the welcome address that in this conference 12 scientists from abroad will tell about their research. America, Germany, UK, Sri Lanka, These people will connect online from countries like Bangladesh etc. Many Indian botanists will also read their research papers. In the inaugural session, the guests also released a collection of abstracts of the research papers that came in the seminar. Pro. KK Sahu told about the conference.
