TRS MP Maloth Kavitha jailed for bribing voters | Rare case that teaches a bribe politician.

For the first time a defending MP has been jailed in connection with a case of bribing voters.  A special court has sentenced Trinamool Congress MP Kavita Maloth in the wake of allegations of bribing voters before the general election.

For the first time a defending MP has been jailed in connection with a case of bribing voters.  A special court has sentenced Trinamool Congress MP Kavita Maloth in the wake of allegations of bribing voters before the general election.

Telangana TRS Party Mahabubad Lok Sabha MP Maloth Kavitha and his associate have been jailed, a rare case that teaches a bribe politician.

 Kavita Maloth was sentenced to six months in jail and a fine of Rs 10,000.  However, Kavita and associate Shaukat Ali have been granted bail and are appealing to the High Court against a special court order.

Shaukat Ali, a flying squad officer of the Election Commission, was caught red handed when he distributed 500 votes to voters.  In 209, Shaukat distributed the money to Kavitha, a candidate from Bhadradri-Kothagudem Lok Sabha constituency.  He had pleaded guilty during the trial.  Named Shaukat A1 and Kavita A2.

Telangana TRS MP Malot Kavita and his associate have been sentenced by Special Sessions Court Judge VRR Varaprasad of Nampally to two years under IPC Section-E (punishing bribery) and fined Rs.  However, they were granted bail by a judge to appeal to the High Court.

The Supreme Court has ordered the trial of corruption cases against people’s representatives in a special court.  BJP MLA Raja Singh and TRS legislator Danam Nagendra are similar examples.
