Sri Jayawardenepura University Professor Neelika Malavike has said that a new mutant strain of the covid virus, which has been identified by the World Health Organization as airborne, has entered Sri Lanka.

Thus, he urged the public to always follow health guidelines to protect themselves from the virus.

Wear a mask whenever necessary.

Symptoms of the new virus are more pronounced.  According to Neelika Malavike, young people are more prone to these symptoms.

He made this revelation at a press conference held in Colombo.

3. Trincomalee,

4. Kuliyapitiya,

5. Wariyapola,

6. Habaraduwa,

7. Tissamaharama,

8. Karapitiya,

9. And Ragama.

Dr. Chandima Jeewandara, Director, Department of Allergy, Immunology and Biology, Sri Jayewardenepura University, said that the diagnosis was made.

He also said that a new variant of B.1.411 has been reported from Tissamaharama.

He noted that the study conducted by his team revealed these issues.
