Teacher’s Day is  celebrated every year across the country on 5th September with great pomp. On this day we remember our favorite teachers and express our respect and affection towards them. Especially in schools and colleges, special preparations and programs are organized on this day.

When Is Teachers’ Day In India?.

We all know that we celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5 September every year in the memory of our great teacher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.

Students express their respect towards their teachers by giving them cards. This day is very special for teachers. Actually Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the occasion of the birthday of former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Teacher’s Day was celebrated for the first time in the year 1962 when Dr. Sarvepalli was elected as the President of the country.

Once on his birthday, his friends and some students organized a program to congratulate him, he said that instead of celebrating my birthday separately, I would feel proud if it was celebrated as Teacher’s Day. Since then, Teacher’s Day started being celebrated across the country.

Eminent Educationist, Great Philosopher.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first Vice President and second President of India. He was the conductor of Indian culture, eminent educationist, great philosopher. Due to his qualities, in 1954, the Government of India decorated him with the highest honor Bharat Ratna. He was given the title of “Sir” by the British Empire in 1931.

He was the Vice Chancellor of Andhra University from 1931 to 36, while he was a professor at Oxford University from 1936 to 1952. From 1937 to 1941, he worked as a professor of George V College under the University of Calcutta. He was the Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University from 1939 to 48. He was also the Chancellor of Delhi University from 1953 to 1962. In 1946, he made his presence felt in UNESCO as the Indian representative.

International teacher’s day 2021.

We all know that we celebrate Teacher’s Day on 5 September every year in the memory of our great teacher Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. But globally, International Teachers Day is celebrated on 5 October. Although UNESCO and the International Labor Organization (ILO) approved the draft in 1966 to celebrate it, but it was accepted on 5 October 1994.

Therefore, events are organized all over the world to honor and recognize teachers all over the world. Along with this, UNESCO and the International Education Society run a campaign to better understand the contribution of teachers in the development of students. For this UNESCO also partners with many non-governmental organizations and media organizations.

Significance of World Teachers Day.

International Teachers’ Day aims to bring people’s attention to the appreciation, evaluation and improvement of the world’s teachers. On this day there is an opportunity to discuss the fundamental issue of teaching and teachers. Apart from this, importance is given to the responsibility of the teachers of the world, their rights and their preparation and standard for further education.

History of World Teachers Day.

1966, at a meeting of UNESCO and the International Labor Organization, it was said to make guidelines with the rights, responsibilities, employment and further education of teachers. UNESCO’s recommendation was passed in 1994 with the support of 100 countries to celebrate World Teacher’s Day at the United Nations internationally. After this, International Teacher’s Day started being celebrated from 5 October 1994.
