The first worship was done by Mahant Vineet Giri of Shri Panchayati Mahanirvani Akhara and Narendra Suryavanshi, administrator of the temple committee. The doors of Lord Nagchandreshwar temple situated on the top of Jyotirlinga Mahakal temple were opened for Nagpanchami at 12.20 pm on Thursday-Friday. After this, the sages of Mahanirvani Akhara and the temple administrator offered prayers to Lord Nagchandreshwar. Devotees will have online darshan of Lord Nagchandreshwar on internet mediums till 12 midnight on Friday. A mega screen will also be installed outside the temple for the convenience of the devotees.

LEDs have also been installed at many places for the darshan of Nag Chandreshwar in the Mahakal temple. The temple is opened for devotees only once in a year. Thousands of devotees from all over the country reach here to have darshan.
Trikal worship of Lord Nagchandreshwar on Nagpanchami.
According to the tradition of the temple, Trikal worship of Lord Nagchandreshwar is performed on Nagpanchami. After the opening of the doors on the intervening night of Thursday-Friday, after the first worship, there will be government worship at 12 noon on Friday.
After the aarti at 12 o’clock in the night, the doors will be closed again.
After the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal at 7.30 pm, the priests of the Mahakal temple, the priests will perform the puja on behalf of the temple committee.
After the aarti at 12 o’clock on Friday night, the doors of the temple will be closed again for a year. Lord Mahakal was also decorated in the form of Sheshnag on the night before Nagpanchami. Devotees in large numbers reached the temple for darshan.

This statue is situated on the topmost floor of Jyotirlinga Mahakaleshwar. For the darshan of Nag Chandreshwar, a day before the devotees get here in long queues. On entering the Nag Chandreshwar temple, the statue of Lord Nag Chandreshwar is visible on the right side.
This statue is an excellent example of Maratha art and is the embodiment of Shiva-Shakti. After 24 hours of continuous darshan, the doors of the temple will be closed again for one year at 12.30 pm. Before closing the gate, traditional worship will be done by Mahakal temple at 8 pm in the sequence of Trikal Puja.
The only statue where Shiva and Parvati are seated on a snake bed.
Shivling is seated in the sanctum sanctorum of Nagchandreshwar temple. There is a rare 11th century statue on the wall outside the sanctum.
In this, Shiva and Parvati are sitting on the seat of a snake spreading its hood. It is believed that this is the only idol in which Lord Shiva and Parvati are seated on a snake bed.

Normal darshan of Lord Nagchandreshwar will be closed on Nagpanchami due to corona infection. No visitor will be allowed to enter the temple. Devotees will be able to have darshan of God sitting at home through the website of the temple and other internet mediums.
Administrator Narendra Suryavanshi told that it will be mandatory for the devotees who want to visit Mahakal on Nagpanchami to make advance booking.

Devotees who visit Lord Mahakal on Nagpanchami will be given entry from the front of the Chardham temple. It is mandatory for the visitors to book the darshan in advance.
For the convenience of the devotees, free shoe stand, cloak room, laddu prasad counter etc. will be available near the entrance. Visitors coming from outside can take free food offerings in the Anna area of the temple.
Nagdevta will be worshiped in homes.
On Nagpanchami, according to the folk tradition of Malwa, the worship of Nag Devta will be done in homes too. On Nagpanchami, the administration has banned snake charmers to bring snakes into the city and the performance of serpents.
If found doing so, action will be taken against the concerned under the Cruelty to Animals Act.
