Marriage Story of Shri Ram-Sita

According to mythological texts, Shri Ram and Mata Sita are incarnations of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. In Treta Yuga, both of them incarnated as an example of ideal and dignified life in the society. Ram-Sita was married in Mithilanchal on Aghan Shukla Panchami.

According to the legend, Mother Sita is born from the earth, when Janak was ploughing, he got a little girl, she was given the name Sita, she was called Janaknandini. It is said in the Puranas that when Sita was young, she easily lifted the Shiva bow kept in the temple, which no one could lift before this except Parashurama.

Then Janak decided that the one who lifts this bow of Lord Shiva and offers it to him, Sita will be married to him. Lord Rama and Lakshman had arrived in Sita Swayamvar as spectators. Many kings tried, but no one could move the bow.

Then Lord Rama, who came with Maharishi Vashistha, according to his orders, He picked up the bow and tried to lift the bow, but the bow broke. In this way he fulfilled the condition of Swayamvara. In this way the marriage of Ram-Sita took place on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month.
