The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already decided to add two new teams to make the Indian Premier League (IPL) more popular. A total of 10 teams will play in next year’s 15th season. Although the BCCI wanted to call for tenders for the two new teams earlier this year, it was delayed due to controversy. Finally today the BCCI invited bids. It is learned that more than 10 corporates have submitted bids for the two teams. The verification process is underway at the Taj Dubai in Dubai.

However, it is learned that Ahmedabad has been acquired by Adani Group and Lucknow by Manchester United. The BCCI will make an official announcement in a few hours. The BCCI has asked all parties to submit two envelopes. One envelope is personal and the other is for financial evidence. The BCCI said that its legal and audit officers would first check the evidence and if they were in order, a second envelope containing the bid would be opened. Adani Group, Manchester United have already completed the process.
The BCCI will announce the two new teams in the IPL till this evening. With this, a total of 10 teams will play in the 2022 IPL. This is not the first time there have been 10 teams in the IPL. Earlier in 2011, 10 teams played in the third season of the IPL. At that time Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors franchises were playing in the IPL. This time it will be clear which city the new teams belong to and who owns them. A total of 74 matches will be played in the 15th season of the IPL. BCCI is expected to earn Rs 5000-7000 crore.
